Use your GI Bill® to cover your exam.
Your VA education benefits can do more than pay college tuition. If your benefit includes the Licensing & Certification option, the VA can reimburse you for the cost of an approved certification exam, like the PMP®. Here is exactly how to do it.
The short version: The GI Bill reimburses your certification exam fee (paid to PMI / Pearson VUE), up to $2,000 per test. You pay for the exam, keep your receipt, then file VA Form 22-0803 to get reimbursed.
ReimbursementVeterans and eligible dependents with Post-9/11 (Chapter 33) or Montgomery (Chapter 30) GI Bill entitlement. The benefit must include the Licensing & Certification option, and the test must be on the VA's approved list (the PMP® exam is). Using this benefit charges your entitlement based on the test fee.
Four steps to reimbursement.
-
Confirm your benefit covers exams
Check that your GI Bill entitlement includes the Licensing & Certification benefit and that your exam is on the VA's approved list. The VA explains it here:
-
Set up a VA QuickSubmit account
QuickSubmit is the VA's online tool for sending in your reimbursement paperwork. Create your account ahead of time so filing is quick once you have your receipt.
-
Enroll, take the exam, and keep your receipt
Enroll in your boot camp with us and prepare for the exam. When you are ready, register and sit for the exam through PMI / Pearson VUE, pay the exam fee, and save your paid receipt. That receipt is what the VA reimburses.

-
File VA Form 22-0803 for reimbursement
Complete VA Form 22-0803 (Request for Reimbursement of Licensing or Certification Test Fees), attach your paid exam receipt, and submit it through your QuickSubmit account. The VA processes the reimbursement, up to $2,000 per test.
