Coast Guard: fund it through CG COOL.

Coast Guard COOL works through your Education Services Officer and the MyCG Ed Portal. You get your training approved first, pay, then file for reimbursement. Here is the order of operations.

Here is how it will work: CG COOL is reimbursement-based, so you get your training approved in the MyCG Ed Portal through your ESO before you pay, then enroll, pay, and file an OF-1164 to be reimbursed.

Who qualifies

Coast Guard members with access to the MyCG Ed Portal and an Education Services Officer (ESO) to route approvals. CG COOL stands for Coast Guard Credentialing Opportunities On-Line.

Step by step

Five steps through CG COOL.

  1. Meet with your ESO

    Tell your Education Services Officer which certification you want to pursue and that PM 4 Life offers the training. They will guide you into the MyCG Ed Portal process.

  2. Request approval at least 14 days out

    In the MyCG Ed Portal, request approval no less than 14 days before your course start date, then wait for authorization from ETQC before you spend anything.

  3. Enroll and pay

    Once you are authorized, enroll with us and pay for your course, then download your paid receipt. We will provide an itemized receipt for your reimbursement packet.

  4. File OF-1164 for reimbursement

    Back in the MyCG Ed Portal, open your authorized application and complete and digitally sign Form OF-1164 with your dates, fee types, and costs. Upload it with your receipts, or email it to ETQC-SMB-CGCOOL@uscg.mil.

  5. Train, test, and report

    Complete your training, fund and take your exam when you are ready, then report your results in the MyCG Ed Portal within 30 days.

Good to know: Because CG COOL reimburses you, you pay up front and get paid back, so do not enroll until ETQC authorizes your request. Need an itemized receipt for your OF-1164? We provide one. Rules change, so confirm the current process with your ESO. Email info@pm4life.biz with questions.
